Rob’s passion for yoga is apparent and he dedicates himself to continually deepening his own practice as a student so he may serve more effectively as a teacher. His classes are challenging, intelligent, fun, and bring depth beyond just physical asana.  “My wish is to inspire the expression of the Highest Self through practice and self-study on and off of our mats. Yoga reminds us of our innate, inlying perfection, so that this becomes an awakened reality in each of our worlds.”

What brought you to the practice of yoga and eventually to teach yoga?

Ultimately I found yoga on a whim when I attended a class at a gym in 2005.  I thought it may compliment my martial art discipline, which at that time I believed to be my calling.  The class really kicked my butt!  I was drawn to come to that same class week after week, not only for the physical challenge it presented,  but to soak in the presence of the teacher who exuded a peaceful mind and an open heart.  Something I was desperately seeking to cultivate in myself.

What brought me to teach in the end was a series of seemingly tragic events in my life, a dark night of the soul which could have gone any way.  Yoga at that time was the only thing I had that kept me going.  Long story short, I feel yoga saved my life and I realized that sharing this with others was my true calling.

Describe the style of yoga you teach…

In a few words, alignment based power vinyasa.  I am an ambassador of the flow……I love to move but there is a real focus on the physical and energetic alignment of the postures in my classes.  When you can tap into this you can truly find ease in the midst of effort.  What we all need in life itself!

Who are your primary teachers?

“om bolo shri sat guru bhagavan ki – jai”  Above all life is my greatest teacher and I rejoice in that knowledge…..Life has brought me beautiful souls such as Shannon Paige Schneider, Nancy Kate Williams, Matt Kapinus and Gina Caputo.  All of whom I am continually inspired by and learn from so that I may serve our world better.

Who are your greatest life influences?

My Mother…..She always let me know I am loved no matter what happens.

What was your greatest “on the mat” AHA moment?

I continually have them and they are too numerous to count.  One of the biggest “AHA’s” however was that when I realized that how I show up onto my mat, is how I show up in the world.  Our practice is an accurate reflection of our life, a microcosm of our world.  How we arrive varies moment-to-moment, day-to-day but it gives us an opportunity for svadhyaya, or self inquiry. Ultimately awareness is the key to the evolution of our souls…
