As a yoga therapist, Denelle hopes that her students deeply and truly connect with her teachings. She wants them to feel free to open up and release all their potential reservations. Denelle’s goal is to create an authentic experience where her students can open their hearts, relax into their postures and be playful in their own practice. The most important part of Denelle’s teaching is to remember to always have fun and enjoy yourself!

What brought you to the practice of yoga and eventually to teach yoga?

A friend in college introduced me to both yoga and pilates.  Yoga helped tone her body even more than hitting the weights so she encouraged me to try it.  I slimmed down, toned my muscles and felt so much better about myself.  I fell in love with both yoga and pilates but I enjoyed my yoga practice more because I was able to let go of the competitive aspect of other physical activities and just be present in my own practice.

Describe the style of yoga you teach…

I teach Alignment-Based Vinyasa Flow, or Om Flow.  Because my training took inspiration from both Anusara and Prana Flow, I like to incorporate a lot of alignment cues with the natural flow of a vinyasa practice.  I may have my students hold the poses a little longer, encouraging them to find the correct alignment before we get into the flow.

Who are your primary teachers?

Shannon Paige Schneider and all my students!

Who are your greatest life influences?

My parents and those individuals who challenge me!

What was your greatest “on the mat” AHA moment?

Probably the first time I achieved a hover in handstand…that little glimpse of an actual headstand gave me the world of confidence to keep going for it!

 Two of my favorite quotes…

“Yoga is like music; the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life”-B.K.S. Iyengar

“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” – Rumi
