Bhava, A Vinyasa into Ease

Born out of the deep desire to create spaces of ease in the effort of managing states of depression and anxiety, this practice emerged as a fusion, inspired by the Prana Flow Vinyasa Yoga, founded and cultivated by Shiva Rea and the distinct states of meditative calm attained in Anjali Restorative Yoga, founded and developed by Shannon Paige.

There is an aliveness to the practice with a sweet focus on integrative alignment and techniques of physical rewinding to release stuck emotional patterns. Though the style is regarded to have radically powerful effects on many levels of depression and anxiety, it creates potent relief and vitality in all levels of practitioner, with varied states of wellbeing.

A Bhava Session is a flow and restore.  It spends one half of the time in a progression, an unfolding of simple into more complex asanas towards a blooming posture that holds the sum total of actions and techniques cultivated.  The second half of the session provides deep lunar pauses in counter-posing restorative postures.

The effect of the sadhana / practice session is empowering.  The first half of the session is steeped in intelligent vibration: pulsation within a posture’s range of energetic motion and center, movement patterns that unfold confidence and directionality, and rhythmic remembrance between two or three asanas.  The effect teaches the body to cultivate mindful contraction and effective rooting in order to learn patterns of safe and repeatable release.  This practice allows us to reframe states of chronic conditioning in exchange for empowering relational movement.

The second half of the sadhana / practice session is inspiring.  The first half remains intact and in the cellular wisdom as the practitioner descends into a progression of meditative, supportive postures.  The states of rich ease and calm are carefully supported and cultivated with guided imagery, breathing practices, and attention to the layers and layers of deepening effortless.

Many of those who would not deliberately find themselves in a restorative practice, enjoy this one immensely due to the invitation through the active vinyasa.  It sum totals a full body bath of inspiration in a vinyasa into ease.
