The History and Practices of Yogini Lineages in India and Nepal and Pilgrimage: Visiting the Rikhiyan Yoginis in Denver with Aditi Devi
Saturday, March 10 and 11, 2012 9:00am-12:00pm and 5:00pm-7:00pm each day
During this weekend gathering, we dive deeply into the ancient Goddess-oriented lineages of Tantric yoga and meditation.
Starting with teachings on Kamakhya, a menstruating yoni Goddess, our time together provides the foundational Tantric teachings and practices for manifesting the inner yantra, the Yogini’s womb and Bhairava’s trisul. Along with basic meditation and mantra practice, we explore the practices that link the inner and outer manifestations of yoginis, yoga, and yonis, as well as the relationship of desire to Tantric practice. We also open into the worlds of Yoginis—both the divine beings and the female practitioners—who gather in circles to practice their fierce devotion to all forms of the Mother Goddess, Devi, and to Shiva-Bhairava. Yoginis are unfettered and spiritually disciplined, and fiercely devoted to divine union. We also explore two practice related aspects of Yogini lineages: the 64 Yoginis as manifestations of the Tantric Goddesses on the inner and outer levels, and the round open-air temples where Yoginis and Yogis still gather at night to worship and celebrate. Sunday morning, we will undertake a pilgrimage to the Denver Art Museum to visit Yogini statues, Parvati and Shiva, Ganesa, and the world of South Asian devotional art. We will lunch together and visit an Indian market. We gather at Om Time for our evening session
